How to add your website to Bing Webmaster Tools

You must have an account with a Microsoft in order to connect your site to Bing Webmaster Tools.

Yoast SEO allows you to connect your website to Bing Webmaster Tools so you can track how Bing is crawling your website. In the SEO > General settings of Yoast SEO, Bing Webmaster Tools is hyperlinked in order to help direct you to the right place to connect your website. Go to Bing Webmaster Tools Enter your site URL address in the 『Add a site』 field. Enter your sitemap URL. If you』re connecting your website for the first time and don』t know anything about when your site』s traffic is the highest, just choose the default option. Click 『Add』. Under 『Option 2』, copy the meta tag code. Log in to your WordPress website. When you』re logged in, you will be in your 『Dashboard』. Click on 『SEO』. On the left-hand side, you will see a menu. In that menu, click on 『SEO』. Click on 『General』. The 『SEO』 settings will expand providing you additional options. Click on 『General』. Click on the 『Webmaster Tools』 tab. Add the code under 『Bing verification code』. Click 『 Save Changes』. Switch back to Bing Webmaster Tools and click 『Verify』.

Note: Your sitemap will most likely show up as pending and will be crawled shortly. It may take a few hours to a few days.

MyYoast is the customer portal where you can find and manage all the Yoast SEO products you own. If you don』t have an account yet or want to know how it all works, this guide will get you started. Below you will find common questions or issues related to your MyYoast account.

What is my account email? The account email is the same email that you entered during checkout. If you do not remember your account email, please contact the support team with your order number or as much information as possible regarding your purchase. How do I change my account email? Please follow these steps to change your account email. What is my account password? Please follow these steps to set your password. How do I change my account password? Please follow these steps to change your password. Why do I get this notification – Error: The email address you provided has already been used. Please try another email address.? This error occurs during the sign-up process when the email is already associated with a MyYoast account.If you don』t have a password yet, follow these steps to set your password.If you have a password, please login following these steps. Why do I get this notification – Error: Incorrect credentials provided. Please check that your email and password are entered correctly. This error occurs when the email address and/or password do not match our records. Please remove the email address and re-enter it double-checking that it is spelled correctly. Repeat for the password field. Why can』t I log in even after I』ve tried everything that was suggested to me? Please contact the support team with a screenshot of what you see, so we can better assist you. What to do if I have multiple MyYoast accounts? It could be that you ended up with multiple accounts, either because you used different email addresses during checkout*, or because something may have gone wrong on the technical side. If so, please contact support.*If you have a My Yoast account, be sure to login during checkout so your new purchase gets registered to the right account. Why is a product I bought not listed in my account? Only Yoast SEO Free can still be used without a My Yoast account. Can I give a course to someone else? Local SEO for WooCommerce is now part of the Local SEO plugin

Yoast SEO meta box is missing

If the meta box appears but it』s partially or completely blank, please see this article.

The Yoast SEO meta box gives you feedback and tools to optimize your SEO. You can find it below your content. But what if it isn』t there? How can you get it back? In this article, we』ll discuss two ways to solve this problem.

It could be that the Yoast SEO meta box is disabled on the edit screen. If you』re using the block editor, you can undo this by following these steps. If you』re using the classic editor, we』ll explain the steps here. The meta box could also have been disabled in the Search Appearance settings of Yoast SEO. We』ll explain how you can enable it in the last part of this article.

Edit screen (block editor)

If you』re using the block editor, the Yoast SEO meta box can be enabled/disabled on the edit screen. This setting is retained when you switch between the same type of edit screen and when you log out.

Log in to your WordPress website.When you』re logged in, you will be in your 『Dashboard』.Go to the edit screen where the meta box is missing.Click on the icon with the three dots in the upper right corner of your screen. Click on 『Options』 at the bottom of the drop-down menu.Scroll down to 『Advanced Panels』 and mark the 『Yoast SEO』 or 『Yoast SEO Premium』 checkbox.To show the panel, check the 『Yoast SEO』 box.To hide the panel, uncheck the 『Yoast SEO』 box.

Edit screen (classic editor)

If you』re using the classic editor, the Yoast SEO meta box can be enabled/disabled on the edit screen. This setting is retained when you switch between the same type of edit screen and when you log out.

Yoast SEO Search Appearance settings

The Yoast SEO meta box could also have been disabled in the Yoast SEO Search Appearance settings. Follow these steps to check whether that』s the case and to change it. Log in to your WordPress website. When you』re logged in, you will be in your 『Dashboard』. Click on 『SEO』. On the left-hand side, you will see a menu. In that menu, click on 『SEO』. Click on 『Search Appearance』. The 『SEO』 settings will expand providing you additional options. Click on 『Search Appearance』. Click on the 『Content Types』 or 『Taxonomies』 tab. Note: You will find the settings in both tabs. Use the tabs that matches the content type you are missing. The Content Type contains settings for posts and pages. The Taxonomies tab contains settings for categories, tags and formats. Toggle the switch to 『Show』 for the content types (posts, pages etc.) for which the meta box is missing.

How to add your website to Yandex Webmaster Tools

Note: You must have an account with Yandex in order to connect your site to Yandex Webmaster Tools. They require a phone number as part of the verification that you are a real human.

Yoast SEO allows you to connect your website to Yandex Webmaster Tools so you can track how Yandex is crawling your website. Go to Yandex Webmaster Tools Login, if needed. Click the plus sign button to add your website. Type your website』s URL in the box. Click the yellow 『Add』 button to continue. Copy the verification code. You will want to use the meta tag under the first tab. Only copy the code that is in the apostrophes after content part of the markup, as per the image below. Log in to your WordPress website. When you』re logged in, you will be in your 『Dashboard』. Click on 『SEO』. On the left-hand side, you will see a menu. In that menu, click on 『SEO』. Click on 『General』. The 『SEO』 settings will expand providing you additional options. Click on 『General』. Click on the 『Webmaster Tools』 tab Paste the code under 『Yandex Webmaster Tools』. Click 『 Save Changes』. Switch back to Yandex Webmaster Tools and click 『Check』.

Congratulations! You』ve connected your website to Yandex Webmaster Tools. Now you can use the dashboard tools to submit your sitemap and robots.txt files.

How to import a CSV file for Local SEO

If you have a store with more than one physical location, you can use the Local SEO for WordPress plugin and optimize your listings for all your stores. To do that, you will need to upload a CSV file that contains the necessary details.

If you want to create your own CSV import file for Local SEO, it should look like the example file below. For this example, we』ve used the Yoast offices.

Things to consider when creating your CSV file

The first line with headers is obligatory.A country should always be an ISO 3166-2 code.Opening and closing times must be in 24-hour format.The business type is limited to those available here: schema.org/LocalBusiness.You can use either comma or semicolon, be sure to select what you used as a column separator when you import.

How to import the CSV file

From SEO → Tools → Import & Export, you can find the option to import your new locations. Warning: This process cannot be used to update locations. Log in to your WordPress website. When you』re logged in, you will be in your 『Dashboard』. Click on 『SEO』. On the left-hand side, you will see a menu. In that menu, click on 『SEO』. Click on 『Tools』. The 『SEO』 settings will expand providing you additional options. Click on 『Tools』. Click on 『Import and Export』. Select the 『Local SEO』 tab. Click 『Choose File』 to select the file from your computer. Select the column separator (comma or semicolon) for your file. Click Import.

If the import button is not available or grayed out, we do not have permissions to write to your server. Please make sure the 「/Path_To_WordPress/wp-content/uploads/wpseo/import/」 directory is writeable.

Is my cURL up-to-date?

If your license activates successfully, an outdated cURL version is not an immediate cause for concern but should be updated as soon as possible.

Running an outdated cURL version may cause license activation errors. cURL is used to verify the license when checking for updates and displaying the tutorial videos. The remainder of the plugin is accessible regardless of license activation status.

If you』re not hosting your own website, you probably won』t be able to update cURL yourself, but you can check what version is running.

How to check the cURL version on your server

Log in to your WordPress website. When you』re logged in, you will be in your 『Dashboard』. Click on 『Plugins』. On the left-hand side, you will see a menu. In that menu, click on 『Plugins』. Click on 『Add New』. The 『Plugins』 settings will expand providing you additional options. Click on 『Add New』. Search for 『Health Check』. Type 『Health Check』 in the search bar, as shown below. Click the 『Install Now』 button. This will give you a page of search results. The Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin should be visible now. Click the 『Install Now』 button to start installing the plugin, as shown below: Click the 『Activate』 button. Click the 『Activate』 button that appeared where the 『Install Now』 button was previously located, as shown below: Click on the 『Tools』 menu item in the admin menu. The menu will expand. Click on 『Site Health』. The site health screen will open. Click the Info tab. The options in this tab will be revealed. Click the View extended PHP information button at the bottom of the screen. A new screen will appear. Scroll down in until you see the table with cURL information.

The most important settings are:

cURL support: enabledcURL information: This should be the most recent cURL version.SSL: Yes

If one (or more) of the above three settings do not match your current installation, please contact your hosting provider and have them fix this for you.

Page redirects or loops unexpectedly

You can redirect posts or pages using our Yoast SEO plugin. If a page redirects unexpectedly or causes a redirect loop only when our plugin is active, this means a redirect has been added to our plugin.

How to Find Error if Yoast is causing error

You can check if Yoast is causing these redirects loop. One method that works for all set-ups is to run a header check on the page. Each page has header information which is only seen by the browser and is not displayed for humans. Using some tools such as a Header Checker or a Curl test you can see this data. Use a curl test to check the header you will need to navigate to your terminal.

Once at the terminal enter in curl -I full url of the page such as curl -I https://yoast.com/licenses/ then hit enter.

Some data will then appear. You can then review the redirect and determine if Yoast is responsible as it will say Yoast SEO Premium in it.

Redirect Added To The Individual Page or Post

The post level 301 redirect feature has been removed from the free plugin in favor of the more robust premium redirect manager as discussed here. If you have an older version of the free plugin you may still see these.

Although you can no longer add new post level redirects, previously entered post level redirects may appear under the advanced tab of the Yoast SEO (free or premium) meta box.

Redirect Added In SEO Settings (Premium Version Only)

Log in to your WordPress website. When you』re logged in, you will be in your 『Dashboard』. Click on 『SEO』. On the left-hand side, you will see a menu. In that menu, click on 『SEO』. Click on 『Redirects』. The 『SEO』 settings will expand providing you additional options. Click on 『Redirects』. Search for the post or page slug that should not redirect. Update or remove inaccurate redirects for the post or page.

Don』t forget to check the regex redirect tab as these types of redirects can be used to redirect multiple URLs to a single location.

Date Archives Redirect to Homepage

Log in to your WordPress website.When you』re logged in, you will be in your 『Dashboard』.Click on 『SEO』.On the left-hand side, you will see a menu. In that menu, click on 『SEO』.Click on 『Search Appearance』. The SEO settings will expand providing you additional options. Click on 『Search Appearance』.Click on the 『Archives』 tab.Toggle the 『Date archives』 to enabled.Click 『Save changes』.

Author Archives Redirect to Homepage

Log in to your WordPress website.When you』re logged in, you will be in your 『Dashboard』.Click on 『SEO』.On the left-hand side, you will see a menu. In that menu, click on 『SEO』.Click on 『Search Appearance』.The SEO settings will expand providing you additional options. Remove category prefix

In some cases, removing the category prefix conflicts with other plugin or theme features. If your site uses the remove category prefix option, please change the option to keep the category prefix.

Why doesn』t Facebook display an image?

There are multiple reasons why Facebook or other social media platforms may not display the image you selected. Facebook, as well as many other social media platforms, uses custom metadata called OpenGraph. Read more about that in this article on social media optimization.

OK, so what could be the problem when Facebook doesn』t display the image you selected? And how can you solve it? Let』s first ask yourself the following questions:

Did you enable Open Graph tags? Make sure you do, by following the steps in this article.Does the Facebook debug tool provide any errors about your image? If so, try to fix these errors. Read more about how to use this tool in this article.Does the image meet the Open Graph image recommendations? Is the image too small? Too large? In portrait orientation?

The minimum width and height is 200 x 200 pixels while the maximum width and height we recommend is 2000 x 1600 pixels, and is less than 2mb in size. You can learn more about advanced image techniques here.

Caching

Sometimes caching is the problem. Try clearing all your caching such as from your server, theme, plugin, or CDN like Cloudflare. If you are not sure how to do that, please contact the right people such as the plugin author or host provider.

The Social tab in Yoast SEO

If you use Yoast SEO, you can manually set an Open Graph image for individual posts and pages. You can do that in Social tab of the Yoast SEO meta box, which can be found below your content (see image). You might need to force Facebook to refresh the metadata.

Social previews in Yoast SEO Premium

Yoast SEO Premium makes it even easier to optimize your Facebook image, as it comes with social previews for Facebook and Twitter. The Facebook preview visualizes what your post will look like when shared on Facebook. It』s immediately clear if your image fits and whether your title and description will display well.
