Can I use your Schema blocks in the Classic Editor?

Can I use your Schema blocks in the Classic Editor?

In short; no.

The longer answer: The new block editor offers unique opportunities for users, theme- and plugin developers. One of the biggest advantages of the block editor over the classic editor we see at Yoast is that it allows us to properly implement Schema.

That』s why Yoast SEO adds HowTo and FAQ blocks to your editing experience. These custom blocks are using the full potential the block editor offers when it comes to implementing Schema microdata.

The old Classic Editor doesn』t have this block-based structure and thus doesn』t allow the easy implementation of Schema. That』s why Yoast』s custom blocks are not available for the Classic Editor.

Why doesn』t the Video SEO plugin index all my videos?

Why doesn』t the Video SEO plugin index all my videos?

The Cause

Especially on websites with a large number of videos, the plugin can have problems finding all the videos, due to (a shortage of) memory.

The Solution

You should try going to SEO-Video and then re-indexing a number of times. You may need to scroll down to find this feature. However, be sure to leave the 『Force Re-Index』 box unchecked. Once the number in the sitemap is static, it has found all the videos.

Why are 404 errors re-appearing, even after being marked as fixed?

Why are 404 errors re-appearing, even after being marked as fixed?

A common issue we hear from users is regarding 404 and 410 errors that keep re-appearing in the Google Search Console, even after being marked as 「Fixed」.

This happens because marking crawl errors as fixed in Google Search Console does not actually change anything in the indexing or crawling of your website. It』s purely a UI feature, which temporarily removes the error from your Google Search Console report.

Google will often re-crawl pages that return a 404/410 response. They do this to verify that the page is really gone and that the errors were not a temporary mistake on your site. This means that you can expect those URLs to keep re-appearing in your Google Search Console Crawl Error reports. You can find more information on this here.

You can also find more information on how Google deals with 404s/410s in general here.

I haven』t received purchase receipt yet

I haven』t received purchase receipt yet

There are several reasons why you haven』t received your Purchase Receipt shortly after you made a purchase on yoast.com. This article will describe the most common issues.

PayPal eCheck

When using PayPal, there are a lot of different methods you can use to fund your PayPal account. You can hook up your bank account or credit card, you can transfer money to your PayPal account manually and others. Most of these methods work flawlessly. But there is one (major) exception; PayPal eCheck.

PayPal describes its eCheck service as follows:

An eCheck is an electronic payment funded by the buyer』s bank account. With an eCheck, the recipient should receive the money within 3-6 business days.Source: PayPal

This basically means that the recipient, Yoast when you purchased a product from us, does not receive your payment instantly. In fact, the sellers documentation states it takes 6 – 9 business days.

So if you』ve paid using eCheck less than 10 business days ago, it』s extremely likely we haven』t received your payment yet. Unfortunately we cannot see a detailed status until we』ve received your payment, so please refer to PayPal for updates during this period.

If your payment hasn』t cleared and you haven』t received your purchase receipt after 10 business days, please feel free to contact us about your payment.

Email delivery

Right after we』ve received your (cleared) payment, we send an email to the email address entered during checkout. This email contains important information about your purchase and plugin subscription. Since the email is sent almost instantly, you should usually receive it within a couple of minutes.

If you haven』t, please check your spambox first. Some email programs still do mark our emails as spam. If purchase receipt isn』t there either, there』s two important options to check:

Does your email provider / web host accept email from yoast.com?Have you entered the correct email address?

Unfortunately we can only help you answer the latter one. Just send us an email containing your PayPal confirmation/invoice, your correct email address and the product you bought. Our Support Engineers will be happy to help you solve this problem!

Locations archive page shows recent posts, not locations

Locations archive page shows recent posts, not locations

If your /locations/ page doesn』t show your locations but instead shows your recent posts, your themes archive.php probably queries directly for the 「post」 post type instead of checking for which post type it should query. You can either fix this in the theme, or you could create a specific template file for your locations page.
