Google Maps are not working

Google Maps are not working

We highly recommend securing your API key to prevent others from using your quota. The downfall is that restrictions can cause the maps to fail. There is also the chance that the required service is disabled or returns an error.

Without the proper keys and restrictions, you』ll see the following error:

Oops! Something went wrong.This page didn』t load Google Maps correctly. See the JavaScript console for technical details.

You get a recurring $200 credit on your billing account each month to offset your usage costs, and you can also set usage limits to protect against unexpected cost increases.

How to index private videos with Video SEO

How to index private videos with Video SEO

Currently, our Video SEO plugin doesn』t work with private videos if they are set to private before the video is indexed by the plugin. Unfortunately, the plugin cannot read the data from a private video. We』re working on a solution for this. In the meantime, we have a work-around for you, which we』ll discuss in this article.

Do you have a different question regarding the Video SEO plugin? Check our Video SEO FAQ.

Change the privacy settings of the video(s) in the video hosting platform to 『public』. Reindex the videos in the plugin using 『Force reindex of already indexed videos』. Check the box for 『Force reindex of already indexed videos』. Then click 『Re-Index Video』s. Change the privacy settings of the video(s) in the video hosting platform to 『private』 again.

Please note that every time you do a forced reindex of already indexed videos, you must first change the videos to public.

Is my cURL up-to-date?

Is my cURL up-to-date?

If your license activates successfully, an outdated cURL version is not an immediate cause for concern but should be updated as soon as possible.

Running an outdated cURL version may cause license activation errors. cURL is used to verify the license when checking for updates and displaying the tutorial videos. The remainder of the plugin is accessible regardless of license activation status.

If you』re not hosting your own website, you probably won』t be able to update cURL yourself, but you can check what version is running.

How to check the cURL version on your server

Log in to your WordPress website. When you』re logged in, you will be in your 『Dashboard』. Click on 『Plugins』. On the left-hand side, you will see a menu. In that menu, click on 『Plugins』. Click on 『Add New』. The 『Plugins』 settings will expand providing you additional options. Click on 『Add New』. Search for 『Health Check』. Type 『Health Check』 in the search bar, as shown below. Click the 『Install Now』 button. This will give you a page of search results. The Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin should be visible now. Click the 『Install Now』 button to start installing the plugin, as shown below:  Click the 『Activate』 button. Click the 『Activate』 button that appeared where the 『Install Now』 button was previously located, as shown below: Click on the 『Tools』 menu item in the admin menu. The menu will expand. Click on 『Site Health』. The site health screen will open. Click the Info tab. The options in this tab will be revealed. Click the View extended PHP information button at the bottom of the screen. A new screen will appear. Scroll down in until you see the table with cURL information.

The most important settings are:

cURL support: enabledcURL information: This should be the most recent cURL version.SSL: Yes

If one (or more) of the above three settings do not match your current installation, please contact your hosting provider and have them fix this for you.

Images in XML sitemaps

Images in XML sitemaps

Yoast SEO creates XML sitemaps, which by default include an entry for every public post and page on your website. If those pages contain images, we include information about them in the XML sitemap entry.

Images in a Yoast SEO XML sitemap

What if I want to to remove images from the sitemap?

The wpseo_xml_sitemap_img filter allows you to modify the sitemap images and the code below will remove the images when the sitemap updates. You can force an update by disabling and enabling the sitemaps.

/* Remove Images From Yoast Sitemap */
add_filter( 'wpseo_xml_sitemap_img', '__return_false' );

What if the image URL is wrong?

The wpseo_xml_sitemap_img_src filter allows you to manually change the image URL. The code below will replace the URL when the sitemap updates. You can force an update by disabling and enabling the sitemaps. For example:

function wpseo_cdn_filter( $uri ) {
return str_replace( 'https://www.example.com', 'https://cdn.example.com', $uri );
}
add_filter( 'wpseo_xml_sitemap_img_src', 'wpseo_cdn_filter' );

What if I want to add images in the sitemap?

Some themes or pagebuilder modules may not show the images on the sitemap. You may need to add them via a filter: wpseo_sitemap_urlimages. This filter will then register images to appear on the sitemap. For example:

function filter_wpseo_sitemap_urlimages( $images, $post_id ) {
array_push($images, 'https://www.example.com/wp-content/uploads/extra-image.jpg');
return $images;
};
add_filter( 'wpseo_sitemap_urlimages', 'filter_wpseo_sitemap_urlimages', 10, 2 );
