What are the meta robots advanced settings?

The advanced meta robots settings allow you to set the meta robots for this page or post to:

『No Image Index』 (you disallow search engines from crawling images on this page or post); 『No Archive』 (prevents the search engines from showing a cached copy of this page); or 『No Snippet』 (prevents the search engines from showing a snippet of this page in the search results and prevents them from caching the page).

By default, this field is empty, which indicates that the default settings are followed. So, if your site-wide default is set to index/follow (or if you』ve not set any specific or restrictive rules), then it should be equivalent to 『index/follow』.

Google Search Console provides valuable information with a URL inspection including any issues that prevent content from appearing in search results. Go to the Google Search Console. If prompted, log in using your Google account. Choose your website from the 『Search property』 drop down in the sidebar. If the sidebar does not appear, click on the three line menu. In the top bar, type (or paste) the complete URL of the article that is missing from Google search. Expand the 『Coverage』 section to view the 『Last crawl』 date. If the page has changed since the 『Last crawl』 date, click 『 Test Live URL』. If the test returns any errors, please make any necessary changes so the URL is available to Google before proceeding. To change your WordPress homepage type, follow the steps below. Log in to your WordPress website. When you』re logged in, you will be in your 『Dashboard』. Click 『Settings』 in the menu. On the left-hand side, you will see the admin menu. In that menu, click on 『Settings』. Click 『Reading』. The 『Settings』 menu will expand providing you additional options. Click on 『Reading』. Select one of the options of 『Your homepage displays』. You can select 『Your latest posts』 or 『A static page』. If you select 『A static page』, you』ll get the option to select which page you want to use as your homepage, and which page you want to use to display your posts.

How to connect your website to Baidu Webmaster Tools with Yoast SEO

Yoast SEO allows you to connect your website to Baidu Webmaster Tools so you can track how Baidu is indexing your website. Baidu recommends adding the primary (typically www.example.com) subdomain first. This will make it easier to add other subdomains (like sub.example.com) later. Go to Baidu Webmaster Tools and sign into your Baidu account. Enter your website URL and whether your site is HTTP or HTTPS site. Click Next 「下一步」 Choose your website』s industry categories. Copy the code under the HTML tag option: 「HTML 標籤驗證」 Log in to your WordPress website. When you』re logged in, you will be in your 『Dashboard』. Click on 『SEO』. On the left-hand side, you will see a menu. In that menu, click on 『SEO』. Click on 『General』. The 『SEO』 settings will expand providing you additional options. Click on 『General』. No content on admin pages

Your admin is suddenly showing admin pages without content, but not a real white screen of death, like this:

Possible cause

Yoast SEO uses a function called bccomp(). bccomp() is a function of the PHP Library BCMath, which is bundled with PHP since PHP 4.0.4. We recently discovered that BCMath is not configured with PHP on a very small number of hosts. In those cases your WP admin will look like the screenshot above when it encounters the bccomp() function.

Best solution

The best solution is to contact your web host and ask them to configure PHP with BCMath on your server. Since BCMath is bundled with PHP, they won』t have to add new packages or download anything. Just configuring PHP with --enable-bcmath will solve the issue immediately.

Yoast SEO is changing my slug!

This should no longer occur when you are using the most recent version of Yoast SEO. This used to be a feature called clean slugs which automatically removed stop words from the generated slug. It has always been bug prone and is not really important for SEO anymore, so we removed it in Yoast SEO 7.0.

What is Google』s knowledge graph?

The knowledge graph provides quick access to information related to the search term. It typically appears in a scroll area above the search or to the right of search results. This is handled entirely on Google』s side so you may not see a knowledge graph for every search term.

Google』s knowledge graph can include social profiles. Yoast SEO allows you to output the code required for Google to find your site』s official social profiles. Depending on whether your site is for an organization or a person, you』ll need to add the social profiles differently.

Social profiles for your organization

To set the social profiles for your organization, follow these steps: Log in to your WordPress website. When you』re logged in, you will be in your 『Dashboard』. Click on 『SEO』. On the left-hand side, you will see a menu. In that menu, click on 『SEO』. Click on 『Social』. The 『SEO』 settings will expand providing you additional options. Click on 『Social』. Click on the 『Accounts』 tab. Enter your social profile information. Click 『Save Changes』.

Social profiles for a person

If you』ve chosen 『person』 in the search appearance settings for your site, then the social profiles are taken from the chosen author』s user profile on the website. Learn more about how to add those.

Help beacon notification

With the introduction of Yoast SEO 12.6 we replaced the old Help Center with a new beacon. This beacon has some very cool features. Make sure to check them out in the 12.6 release post!

The beacon can be found in the bottom-right corner on every page in our plugin.

However, before you are able to use this beacon, you will need to confirm that you are ok with using it. A notification will pop up when you click the beacon.

After selecting 『OK』 you are good to go!

My Yoast SEO plugin does not have the beacon!

That』s definitely not good, you』re missing out! There are two major reasons why this could be the case. They are listed below:

You have not yet updated to the 12.6 version of the plugin. Please check the plugins page on your website to confirm you are on the right version.Some ad-blockers block the beacon completely, meaning that you don』t even see it. Make sure to either disable the ad-blocker or whitelist your own website in the ad-blocker.

Edge case

There is one special case when using the Microsoft Edge browser. When the notification has been dismissed twice, the browser will ask if you want to stop the page from creating more messages. If you agree to that, then it is no longer possible to open the beacon at all. In order to resolve this, the browser needs to be restarted.
